Are there always rooms available, also during high season?

It never happened, that our clients did not find a room for the night. We have contracted enough hotels in each region to avoid availability problems. In addition to that, most of the hotels allow a reservation 3 days in advance and we recommend to use this possibility mainly during high season (December - April and July/August). It might happen during high season, that your preferred hotel is sold out and that you have to look for another hotel Instead. We do not sell FlexiVOUCHER packages for stays between December 20th and January 10th and during Easter week, because almost all hotels are sold out for these days.

Do I benefit of better rates with my FlexiVOUCHER package?

You even have a massive advantage regarding the price at each hotel. As a FlexiVOUCHER client, you represent a last-minute client for the hotel, who books the rooms that have not been sold so far. The hotels reward this with an excellent rate. According to the hotel, you have a benefit of 20-50% on the normal rate. Of course, the hotels therefore do not allow bookings long in advance, but only on a last minute basis.

   

Why do I have to identify myself as a FlexiVOUCHER client, if I want to check availability at the hotels?

It is the free decision of the hotel, if it wants to accept a FlexiVOUCHER booking to the agreed special rate or not. The hotel therefore must know, If the request comes from a FlexiVOUCHER client or from a guest, who pays the full normal rate. If you do not identify yourself as a FlexiVOUCHER client, the hotel might reject your booking, which they previously approved by phone, because they did not know you will pay with a FlexiVOUCHER. You do identify yourself mainly for your own interest in order to get reliable information. 

Is breakfast included at the hotels?

Most of the hotels offer a free breakfast for FlexiVOUCHER clients. You will find a list of all participating hotels in your travel handbook, where you can see, which hotel includes breakfast and which ones do not. 

Can I book a room in advance?

Most of the hotels allow a reservation maximum 3 days in advance. On the hotel list in your travel handbook, you will be able to see, which hotels do allow to make a reservation. If you make a reservation at one of the hotels, you must indicate your personal reservation number, mentioned in the travel handbook. This is the security for the hotel to prove, that you made a reservation there. If you book a hotel, but do not show up there and the hotel is able to mention your personal reservation number, you will be charged with a no-show fee of 1 night. 

Why can I make a reservation only 3 days in advance and not from my home already?

The average rate for a FlexiVOUCHER is 20-50% lower than the normal hotel rate, because it is a last-minute reservation for the hotel, filling up the rooms that have not been sold so far. The hotels therefore allow booking the rooms on a last-minute basis of maximum 3 days in advance only. Some of the hotels do not allow any reservation at all and you have to check availability directly at the front desk. 

Does my cellular phone work in Costa Rica?

Since 2006 there are some roaming contracts in place which allow you to use your own celular phone in Costa Rica. Nevertheless we offer a free cellular phone delivered with the car. However, due to the fact that you need to leave a deposit to cover the loss or damage of the device, we ask you to book this service explicitly.

Does the FlexiVOUCHER package include any insurance for the rented car?

No, it doesn’t. Any insurance coverage must be paid directly to the car rental company. There are some credit card companies offering an automatic coverage for their cardholders if they rent a car. This is something you must check with your credit card company. Otherwise you have to pay a compulsory basic insurance of US$ 15.-- to US$ 20.-- according to the car type. With this basic insurance you have to cover the deposit of US$ 750.-- to 1’500.-- (according to car type) in case of any damage. You can exclude this risk with an voluntary additional insurance of US$ 9.-- to 10.-- per day. 

Do I need a credit card to rent a car?

Yes. You have to leave a deposit by credit card. The amount of this deposit depends on the insurance coverage you buy. If you only buy the basic insurance, the deposit will be US$ 750.-- - 1’500.-- (according to car type). If you also buy the voluntary additional insurance, the deposit will only be US$ 100.-- plus US$ 100.-- for the cellular phone if you book this service. All mayor credit cards are accepted. 

Do I need an international driving license to rent a car?

No, this is not necessary. Your driving license is valid for 3 months during your stay in Costa Rica. However, you always must be able to show the entrance stamp of immigration 

Do I always get the worst rooms at the hotels because I have a special rate?

Our FlexiVOUCHERS are valid for standard rooms at all hotels, and these rooms are not bad at all. Many of the hotels have only one kind of rooms. It often happens mainly in low season (May/June and September/October) that the hotels even offer a higher room category for free. 

Do you offer child reduction?

You can refer to the list of participating hotels to find out, which hotels offer free accommodation for children sharing the room with their parents and if breakfast is included for children or not. If your children need a separate room, there is no reduction. 

Do I benefit of better rates, if I book directly instead of making a reservation via my tour operator?

If there is a difference, it is certainly minimal. However, if you book with your tour operator you have the advantage of legal protection in your home country and benefit of excellent conditions for flights to Costa Rica. We are a very serious and respected company in Costa Rica, but we cant offer these additional advantages to you.
